Yeah, there’s tons of 7-elevens in across all of Thailand really and there’s also tons of Family Marts here in Koh Samui but this is “Bangrak Minimart” and this place is like a 7-11 on steroids. This place has all kinds of stuff if you’re looking for a really really good mini mart that has an amazing booze selection, I’m actually here to buy some gin right now! they have amazing food that you wouldn’t find certainly at a 7-11 but kind of a lot of nice local pre-made food, some baked goods, this is a bit of a local institution and if you’re in this area then this could be a shop that you’d enjoy paying several visits to. I’m gonna walk you in and I’ll show you what I mean, I mean you can see they have all kinds of stuff in here and it’s not that big of a shop really but it’s really about how they curate the selection that they do have so you can find some alcohol in here that you won’t be able to find in many other places and like I said some of the treats and baked goods that you’re not going to find in many other places. It’s a place that is part of the community and tries hard to be a community business and it’s a place that I’d recommend!! shout out to Alex, this is his shop and I hope that this pin helps you out if you’re ever in need of some little bit of this and a little bit of that.
Additional Information
There are over 15,000 elevens in Thailand alone. This country is the king of convenience. Having said that, the store featured in the video above is so much more than a 7/11. Bangrak Mini Mart offers an amazing selection of imported food and drink options, and is a must visit as soon as you arrive in Koh Samui. If you’re looking to stock up on delicious meats, cheeses or wines to enjoy while you’re on the island, then this is absolutely the best place to do it. It’s located in the Bangrak area of Koh Samui which has really come into its own over the past couple of years. This is a community that has never been super reliant on tourism, so all through the COVID pandemic, it was able to maintain some sense of normalcy while other parts of the island were devastated. Bangrak Minimart is a local favorite for expats that choose to live on the island because of its convenient location, and massive selection of international/imported goodies. It’s actually quite amazing how many things you can find in here. The owner is super cool, the staff are beyond friendly, and it really does feel like the neighborhood shop.
