Additional Information
Chiang Mai is situated in northern Thailand and is the largest city. It is surrounded by mountains and its old city area still retains vestiges from its history. Because of this, the city is amazing to visit if you are trying to understand the deep roots of traditional Thai culture. Its historical temples, picturesque mountains, cool weather, and scenic views are what makes this city such a popular destination for tourists. Because of its northern location and higher altitude, Chiang Mai is a pleasant city to visit in comparison to Thailand’s other cities as the weather is more suitable for those who are not used to the country’s extreme heat. If you are looking for places to explore the options range from the Elephant Rescue Park to Wat Chedi Luang Varavihara and many other temples and reserves. It is very interesting to explore the nature of Chiang Mai as well as the temples integrated into this greenery. Not only this but you can also explore the towns, which are hip and trendy near the university. Or if you really want to dive into the traditional culture, there are also local towns which are less busy with tourists and foreigners.
