Riverside Cocktails in BANGKOK
River City is a moden complex right on the Chao Praya River across from Iconsiam. Make sure to come here at sunset, enjoy a cocktail, and take in Bangkok at its best.
I’m living in a van down by the river at River City Bangkok and I’m with my fellow degenerate friend Jerome well maybe he’s not a degenerate he’s just a fellow YouTuber he’s got a great Channel called Global Travelmate he knows a lot about Bangkok and he’s been sharing it with us here in teeny so tell us about River City here and well well he’s explaining what this place is I’m gonna walk you through we just walked through it was my first time here but uh what’s this place all about?
Jerome: So River City is like a kind of mall on the river here and it’s packed with art there’s nice restaurants it’s a very modern place a lot of Thai people come here in the evening to hang out you have an amazing sunset here across the river from the Icon Siam there’s a little boat that goes up and down here and it’s just a very cool place to hang out and then here you have a very nice restaurant which is called Viva Aviv and if you want to catch the best of one of the best sunsets on the river come to Vivi leaf and get your cocktail early in the night!
Chris: haha nice so this is really like a few pins combined into one I’m not gonna put a pin for that restaurant but I just walked through it the place is spectacular big funky cool place with an amazing deck and uh yeah I think Haelee we should come down and enjoy a sunset here oh Morella Haelee we’re making it we’re making plans right here live in Teenee for a sunset dinner of our own but this is a really cool spot um a lot of funky shops and and I would highly recommend people come down and check it out!!
Bangkok, Thailand has some of the most epic shopping anywhere on earth. Many of these massive mall complexes would put their counterparts in Europe or North America to shame. The Holy Grail of Bangkok shopping is IconSiam. This is a newly built architectural masterpiece located right on the east side of the Chao Praya river across from central Bangkok. It has anything and everything that you could think of. Whether you’re looking to purchase something from a luxury brand like Gucci, Chanel, Fendi, Rolex, etc. or simply want a basic Tee from Uniqlo, this place has it all. You can even buy a Ferrari right in the mall if you’re looking to spend some serious coin. There’s also an epic food court on the ground level of IconSiam which features all sorts of tasty Thai treats that you can get at street food prices. One thing that’s actually quite common across many Bangkok shopping centres is to have at least one or two food courts that act more like Thai markets than they do a typical eating area. The food in these areas are both tasty and cheap. The reason that these exist is because the developers or owners of these massive shopping complexes want to drive as much foot traffic as possible inside of their real estate. So, they give significant rent breaks to the vendors that would normally have to compete for space in an outdoor market. What ends up happening is that residents find a specific vendor or restaurant that they like, and make it a weekly routine to go and enjoy some food from that specific location, inside of whatever mall it exists in. The food courts inside of these malls actually become attractions on their own, resulting in more foot traffic inside of the mall.
